Grandma Great Moves to Our House Assisted Living...

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, we moved Eva to Our House Assisted Living.  We felt that she would be safer there than in her own home.  Our nephew Chase and his wife Heidi will purchase her home and leave her room there for her, if and when she can come back.

She has been in and out of the hospital since Thanksgiving.  She has recently suffered with mini strokes (TIA) blood clots to the brain.  She has many of them (per the scans) and they are unable to do an MRI with per pacemaker.

She is to be taken to the hospital every time she has one of these episodes.  She is on oxygen permanently for the time being.  If she is taken off oxygen, she drops down below 80 which is dangerous and can cause brain damage.

We have been working to get her settled in at Our House and busy hanging up pictures and making it feel like home.  I have been going through all of the paperwork since 1970 and preparing it to be shredded.  I am keeping her important documents for taxes and things that she needs.  It is wearing...

We are praying that she will like it here and have a good experience and want to stay where she is safe.

Even More Snow...

I forgot to post these pictures of the snow that I took a week or so ago.  We have really been slammed this January with snow.

Poor Rebel!  He is having such a hard time getting around in the snow.  He sinks when he steps on it.  He does love the feel of snow on his face!

Heartfelt Farewell to a Beloved Character on General Hospital

Jacklyn Zeman, who portrayed Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital Soap Opera for 45 years, passed away on May 9, 2023.  General Hospital finally paid tribute to Bobbie Spencer on January 10-11.

Bobbie's top 20 episodes include the following:

Soon after arriving in Port Charles, Bobbie set her sights on Scotty (Kin Shriner) and in 1978, she was bound and determined to destroy his relationship with Laura.

To help her split up Scotty and Laura, Bobbie summoned her big brother Luke (Anthony Geary) to town in 1978.

By 1981, Bobbie was romantically linked to Noah Drake (Rick Springfield).

When Luke and Laura wed in 1981, Bobbie was a member of the bridal party.

In 1984, Bobbie tied the knot with D.L. Brock (David Groh), who soon turned physically abusive.

Bobbie's next walk down the aisle was with lawyer Jake Meyer (Sam Behren) in 1986.

Bobbie's friendship with Tony (Brad Maule) blossomed into true love and they said, "I do" in 1989.

In 1991, Bobbie rushed to action to help Felicia (Kristina Wagner) when an earthquake rocked the brownstone.

Bobbie played with fire when she found herself drawn to Damian (Leigh McCloskey) with whom she performed the tango at the 1994 Nurses' Ball.

Bobbie was devastated when her beloved adopted daughter and namesake, B.J. (Brighton Hertford) was rendered brain-dead in a 1994 school bus crash.  After she and her aunt Ruby (Norma Connolly) said their final good-bye's, the little girl's heart was donated to Maxie Jones, saving Maxie's life.

Bobbie's life would never be the same when, in 1996, Carly (then-Sarah Brown) - the daughter she had secretly given up for adoption-came to town and seduced Tony.

Reeling from her split from Tony, Bobbie rebounded in 1996 with a short-lived marriage to Stefan Cassadine (Stephen Nichols).

In 1999, Bobbie nearly wed Jerry Jacks (Julian Stone), but his arrest interrupted the ceremony.

Bobbie was caught off-guard when son Lucas (then-Ben Hogestyn) came out to her as gay in 2004.

In 2015, Bobbie and Luke, joined by Tracy (Jane Elliott) and their sister Pat (Dee Wallace Stone)paid an emotional visit to their childhood home.

In 2017, Bobbie and her fellow General Hospital nurses got the Nurses' Ball off to a rollicking start,

In 2018, Bobbie pictured with Lucas (Ryan Cranes and Brad-made her disdain for the occasion clear with her sartorial choices when she attended the (invalid)wedding of grandson Michael to the scheming Nelle.

In 2019, Bobbie took a reflective moment to remember cherished colleagues at the hospital's memorial wall.

Bobbie, pictured with her granddaughter Jocelyn (Eden McCoy) and Carly (Laura Wright), was a proud matriarch at Carly's wedding to Jason in 2021.

In 2023, Bobbie's speech about her longtime nemesis Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) at the Nurses' Ball was interrupted in a dramatic fashion by Lucy herself.

It will be so weird not seeing Jackie Zeman on General Hospital.  She had a good run.  Rest in Peace.

More Snow!!!

Wow!  On Sunday, January 7, 2024, we woke up to nine inches of new snow.  Crazy!  Church got canceled which I was relieved. We started getting texts at 7:20 a.m. telling us that it was canceled and to get a hold of the folks that we minister to.

Around 9:00 a.m., folks started coming around to see if they could help clear the snow.  I am grateful to live in a neighborhood/ward who cares about everyone, especially us old people.

Snow!!!Finally!!!

It was so nice this morning to wake up to snow, and not have to worry about driving to work in it!  Keith went out and cleared the snow for us and the Thornton's.  Rebel has a blast playing in the snow.

It's kind of funny that we get the first snow of the season on January 5, 2024.

Braxton Turns 18!!!!!

On Thursday, January 4, 2024, Braxton Kyle Preece turned 18!  It has been a long time coming.  I have been looking forward to the day he turns 18 and can make decisions for himself!  Sadly, we didn't get a picture of him on his 18th birthday.  He said he went bowling with friends.  I hope he had a good birthday.  Here are a few photos through the years...I have so many...

Skyler was such a proud daddy!  He loved his boy!

Keith and I couldn't love him more.  He is the mirror image of his father and he has so many of Skyler's characteristics.  He has a kind heart and contagious smile just like his dad. We are praying that his future will be bright and full of happiness.

Lunch with Bonnie and Chersti...

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, I had lunch with Bonnie Van Cleave and Chersti Crawford.  We met at Kneaders in Ogden.  It was so fun to get together and reminisce about our fun times at Weber State.

We plan to get together again soon.  Good times!

Breakfast With The Espinosa's 2024

On Tuesday, January 2, 2024, Keith and I met Dave and Vicki Espinosa at Jeremiah's for breakfast.  We enjoyed catching up and visiting with them.  We have been friends for 46 plus years.

Vicki made my favorite cookies...bizcochitos, which are Mexican crisp butter cookies flavored with sugar, cinnamon, and anise.  My aunt Bessie used to make them for me.  They were so good.  They also spoiled us with diet cokes, diet mtn. dew, shelled peanuts, jerky, and chocolate.   So nice!  We gave them apples, chocolate, and Cover Your Assets game.  We also treated them to breakfast.  It was a fun way to start 2024.

Reno Kids Halloween
