JoAnne's Obituary...

JoAnne Coon Robinson

January 30, 1950 — May 26, 2025

JoAnne Coon Robinson, 75, graduated this life and returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 26,2025 in Roy, Utah. She was born on January 30, 1950 to Theron Earl Coon and Anna Jane Blood in Salt Lake City, Utah.

JoAnne grew up in Magna, Utah. She attended Cyprus High School and Brigham Young University. Early on, she worked as a legal secretary, then worked many years as a secretary in the Tactical Division at Thiokol. She concluded her career by serving as Executive Assistant to three presidents of Weber State University. This was also where she met some of her best friends.

She married Leland LaSelle Robinson on July 12, 1979 in Provo, Utah. They were sealed for eternity in the Manti Utah Temple. JoAnne dearly loved her five children, eighteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and was always happiest when surrounded by her family. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She and Lee completed a service mission in the Utah Ogden Mission in 2014-2015.

JoAnne was an excellent cook and loved feeding her family. She was a wonderful pianist and got her first church organist calling at age 12. She was an avid reader and crocheted the most beautiful afghans and baby blankets for her loved ones. She loved camping with her family and being in the mountains, and she had a quiet, witty sense of humor.

JoAnne bravely fought against the effects of Parkinson’s disease later in her life. She regularly attended a Parkinson's boxing class and even had her very own pair of pink Everlast boxing gloves, much to the delight of her grandchildren. Her spirit stayed strong even as her body grew weaker, and we are forever grateful for her love, humor, and her endurance to the end.

She is survived by her husband, Leland Robinson; children, Lee (Alexi) Robinson, Jr., Jac (Melanie) Lindell, DeAnna (Jason) Fife, Erin (Alex) Heslop, and Jeff Robinson; sister, Sheron (Blair) Bradshaw; brother, Kelly (Cindy) Coon; eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many beloved in-laws.

Preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Anna Coon; step-mom, Laurie Thompson Holley Coon; sister, Carla Coon Jones; and nephew, Joshua Bradshaw.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Freedom Ward, 4675 W. 5500 S., Hooper. Friends may visit with family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, West Haven Cemetery.

Death of JoAnne Robinson

On Sunday evening, close to 10:00 p.m., I noticed a post on Jeff Robinson's Facebook page.  He said that his mother had passed away today, Memorial Day.  I was so sad!  I met JoAnne when I went to work in the President's Office in January 1999.  Her birthday was January 30 and mine was Feb. 4th.  Marsha had two birthdays to celebrate in one week!

We were instant friends.  We would eat M&M's for breakfast with our diet cokes and laugh!  We both loved Boyds Bears and would frequent the Bookstore together.  We had so many good times.  We went to Tuachann a few times on a girls trip.  We would stay up late and laugh.  JoAnne had such a quick wit and was so funny.  I will miss her a lot!  I have over 60 pictures of JoAnne. Rest in peace my friend.

Memorial Day 2025

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, Keith and I decorated the graves at the cemetery.  There were so many people out and about on Sunday doing the same thing.  We tried to avoid the crowds of Monday. We grilled hamburgers.  It was a chill day.

Our Garden of Eden

There is nothing I would rather do than sit outside and enjoy our Garden of Eden.  Thanks to Keith for all his hard work keeping everything looking good.   I love to sit outside and relax listening to the waterfall and smelling the beautiful roses.

Kamryn Bowers Turns 19!

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Kamryn Lorraine Bowers turned 19 years old.  Kamryn just returned home from attending Utah Tech in St. George for the summer.  She had employee orientation for a job, then had a quick dinner with family before attending the DeMonte Ranch High School Dance Recital to support her friend Sarah.  It looks like she had a wonderful birthday.  I wish we could have been there to celebrate with her.  Kamryn is such a ray of sunshine.  We just love her!

Janet Villarruel Has Passed Away...

On May 17, 2025, Janet Villarruel passed away at the age of 76.  Janet always had a smile on her face and was such a dear friend.  She and her husband Ronnie both worked at Weber State.  We shared many laughs together.  She will truly be missed.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend!

Mother's Day 2025

Mother's Day 2025 did not disappoint.  I started the week visiting my ministering sisters.  I gave them a little gift!  We had nice visits with Shelley, Deeann and Jeanne.  Keith and I made a trip to Alpine Nursery in Perry.  We bought Geraniums and Lantana for the wagon on the waterfall.  We have been looking for something to put on the patio by the waterfall for almost 20 years.  We finally found a table and bench set that we love.  Keith did some wheeling and dealing, and we got it for 10% off.  Happy Days!  On Sunday, Mother's Day, we attended church.  Then we went to the Care Center to Visit Eva.

Jamie and Dusty sent me chimes and Keith hung them up.  I love them!  Keith wrote a sweet card.  Lisa, my ministering partner gave me a book and lotion drops.  Brent Barker, our home teacher, brought me a cookie from Crumbl.  Keith cooked steaks for dinner and then made peach ice cream.  It has been years since we made homemade ice cream and our ice cream maker finally gave up the ghost.

And a picture of Rebel, just because.  He is smart.  He stays in the shade when it's hot!  Keith and I watched Nonna's (great show) and went to bed.  It was a great Mother's Day!

Spring Yardwork

Spring is our favorite.  It is also a busy time when there is lots to be done in the yard.  Keith had bark delivered to the house yesterday.  He has been loading four wheelbarrows a day and spreading it around the yard.  It will eventually get done.

We also had our trees pruned.  They look good, but with a $900.00 increase, we may have to go back to having help from the ward to prune them.

Lots of work, but worth it.

Paperwork Organization...

I finally tackled Jamie and Skyler's schoolwork from pre-school to college.  I think I saved every art project and report.  I threw away 4 garbage bags worth of stuff.  It felt good to clear it out.  I also went through my old primary files, family home evening lessons, talks I had written and lessons we had taught.  I kept some things...but I only have a handful instead of totes.

A few highlights are:

It was fun to go through this stuff.  I read reports and we laughed and cried.  I kept a few things to frame.  Great Memories!

Closet Organization

It has taken me a year and a half to finally tackle our bedroom closet.  For some reason when life gets busy, all things get thrown in the closet.  I am so happy to have everything off of the floor, clothing donated and organized.

It feels good to have taken back some real estate!  My clothes all fit in one closet!

Funeral Florals

On Friday, April 10, 2026, Keith and I drove to Syracuse to pick-up our funeral florals from Eva's funeral.  We had some beautiful arran...
