On Monday, June 2, 2025, Keith had his second nerve stimulator surgery. This time, Dr. Shepherd opened up the battery pack, added 16 leads to his upper neck/back area, and hooked everything back up to the battery. Keith has two large, long incisions.
This surgery was much more invasive than the first surgery. Keith was in so much pain. I kept wondering why it was taking them so long to close him up. I finally got to see him around 10:45 a.m. They took him into surgery at 7:30 a.m.
I am praying that this surgery will make a difference. I feel bad that they had to do a second surgery - dumb insurance rules. His incision for the battery pack was healed up nicely until Dr. Shepherd had to cut into it again.
Keith had a hard time breathing - he said it reminded him of when he had pluracy. It was so painful to breathe. They gave him some pain medication, and after about a half hour, we were able to come home.
