Pleasant View 10th Ward Relief Society Activity - Trash to Treasure

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, we gathered at the church for Trash to Treasure Night.  Everyone was instructed to bring something from their home that they wanted to discard that might be someone else's treasure.

Abby Twingstrom gave the opening thought.  Then Emily Galant explained how to play Bunco.  We helped ourselves to the yummy snack bar and then started playing the game.  It was so fun!  I was pretty good at rolling the dice fast, because of all my Yahtzee playing!!!  I ended up getting the most bunco's, and got to choose my prize first.  I chose a candle that Pam had brought.

There were only 10 of us, but it was fun and we laughed a lot.  We answered questions that were on the table and then helped clean up.  It was a fun night.  I wish more ladies would have showed up, but for those who did, we had a great time.

A fun night was had by all!

Skyler Olson is Playing Soccer!

Jamie and Dusty signed Skyler up to play soccer.  She sure is adorable in her soccer outfit.  They said she was really funny.  Not sure what to do.  But once the coach held her hand and pulled her around, she got the hang of things.  I can't wait to see how her season goes.

A star in the making!

Bowers/Olson Family Picture Photo Shoot...2 Seniors soon...

Jamie, Dusty, and their six kids and dog, had family pictures taken at the Sand Hollow Park.  They turned out amazing.  You would never know that they were a blended family.  The kids are so grown up.  We sure do love them!

Brady and Kamryn are graduating in June.  They had senior pictures taken!  Jamie said that the wind was blowing extra hard on picture day.  But the pictures sure turned out great!

I can't believe how grown-up these kids are and how beautiful their family is!  We are blessed!

Dale Thornton's Diagnosis...

On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Dale and Jacque confirmed that Dale has pancreatic cancer.  He has been losing weight quickly and not had any energy, or appetite for approximately 4-6 weeks.  He had surgery to repair a kink that was in between the gall bladder and the liver.

Dale is 85 years old and has never been to the hospital, not even to be born.  He was born at home with a midwife.  Through all of this, Dale is still smiling, and very appreciative of any small act of kindness.

It has been devastating for all of those who love Dale and Jacque.  Our 10th Ward is holding a fast on Sunday, April 14th for Dale and Jacque.  We are praying that Dale will be able to recover, but it it be God's will, that he not suffer for long.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Dale and Jacque!  We love them as family.

Alexis Stokes Hanson's Baby Shower

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, I attended a baby shower for Alexis Stokes Hanson.  Holly Carver hosted the shower at her home.  It was a perfect day weather wise.

Alexis's dad, John, put together the little tikes car and made the surf boards for decorations!  So fun!

I should have taken a picture of the spread they had.  It was amazing!  I am so happy for Alexis and Parker.  Can't wait to meet their baby boy!

Veterans Monument at the Pleasant View City Building

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Keith and I went down to the city building to see the Veteran's Monument and Clock that was installed at the Pleasant View City Offices.  Our friend, Ken Francis, was able to get the clock from the Ogden Temple that was located on the temple grounds for over 40 years.  What a beautiful addition to the city office and monument.

What a beautiful tribute to those who served our country!

Girls Trip to Utah - Easter Weekend

On Thursday, March 29, 2024, Jamie, Kamryn, and Skyler arrived at the house around 4:00 p.m.  It was good to see them. They had spent the past week in St. George getting senior pictures and family pictures taken and just relaxing in the sunshine.  Jamie had a hair appointment on Friday in Northern Utah so they stayed with us for a few days.

We brought all their stuff in (in the rain of course).  And then we visited for a bit.  We went to the Assisted Living Care Center to see Grandma Great.

Skyler and Rebel are buddies!

Skyler was very shy at first at Grandma's - then she explored all around Grandma's apartment.  She laid on the shower bench and made a little comfy bed. LOL

We went back to the house and I made spaghetti for dinner.  We were starving.  This little girl can sure pound a lot of spaghetti.  She had 3 bowls all by herself.  We then visited and I cleaned up the dishes.  Kami and Grandpa Preece watched a movie.

I got up super early on Friday.  Jamie had to be at her appointment at 7:30 a.m.  I got Skyler bathed and dressed for the day.  She ate breakfast (including more spaghetti)!  We colored pictures and played.
Kami entertained Skyler so I could get my shower and get ready for the day.

Jamie got home around 12:30.  Kamryn, Jamie, Skyler and I went to Cafe Rio for lunch.  It was yummy.  They always want to go when they come to Utah because they don't have a Cafe Rio in Reno.

We then ventured over to Costco to buy some towels.  It was crowded as always, and Skyler was getting grumpy, so we didn't get anything else.  Afterwards we went to Farr's to have ice cream!

The ice cream was huge for this little one!  She could hardly hold onto it.

We went home and the 3 of us took a nap.  Grandpa Preece tried to entertain Skyler for a minute, but she decided she was tired, and went upstairs.  I could hear her in the spare bedroom playing.  She loves the little people.

Jamie woke up and played blocks with Skyler.  I made us all omelets for dinner.  We ate and then visited.  Jamie started getting things ready to leave the next day.  Kami wasn't feeling that great, so she went to bed.

Saturday morning, we got up and helped make sure that Jamie and the girls got everything loaded in the car to head home to Reno.  I cleaned bathrooms and started laundry.  Then I made deviled eggs for Easter and got the jello made as well.  I planned the Easter dinner menu.  We stopped over at the care center to visit Eva and then came home.  I made sloppy joe's for dinner and then cleaned up.  I got the chicken nuggets in the marinade for Easter dinner.

On Easter Sunday, Keith and I got up and got ready for church.  Our sacrament meeting was a special one.  The talks were good and the music was wonderful.  Such a great spirit.  We came home and took Grandma's Easter Basket to her and visited with her.

Eva loved her Easter Basket and goodies.  We came home and relaxed and then had our Easter Dinner.  It was a good day.  We called Skyler to make sure she didn't get dirt, worms, and rocks, in her Easter Basket.  She laughed and laughed!

I took a picture of the 11 Easter Eggs that I had Mrs. Cavanaugh's decorate.  I should have taken a picture of the eggs I took to the Vandemerwe's.  They loved their eggs as well!  Shout out to Mrs. Cavanaugh's.  Their marshmallow eggs are the best!

Reno Kids Halloween

Jamie sent pictures of Skyler's Halloween Costumes and her class.  It looks like they had several days of Halloween Fun!  Skyler's C...
