July Jello Jamboree

On Monday, July 14, 2025, I made my lemon lasagna dessert and headed to WSU for the July Jello Jamboree.  I am grateful that my WSU friends still invite me to their activities.  It was fun to see everyone and catch-up.  And the jello's did not disappoint.

I visited Mark Halverson for a few minutes.  Jodi took my picture with Norm's portrait that WSU had taken of all the VP's for an activity last year.  Mark changed Norm's office around - it was the same set-up as Dr. Simkins had.  Funny! I sent the picture to Norm!  His response was, "We should have burned that picture long ago."

Janet Villarruel's Celebration of Life

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, I attended Janet Villarruel's Celebration of Life at Leavitt's Mortuary in Ogden.  I met Janet when I started working at Weber State in 2000.  We were both working in the same office suite and we had so much fun together.  Janet was a sweetheart and she will truly be missed.

I sat by two of Janet's closest friends.  They all went to school together.  Sandy Ropelato said she was with Janet at the Dance Hall when she met Ronnie.  It was love at first sight.  What a love story.  Her other friend, Katana (I can't remember her last name) and Linda Glassman were thick as thieves growing up.  It was fun to hear their stories. The program was beautiful.  Ronnie read his last letter to Janet.  He has such a way with words.  It was so heartfelt.  The music and the prayers were beautiful.  I visited with Ronnie, and her daughters Allison and Carrie.  It was a beautiful tribute to a life well lived.

Brekyn Coleman Got Married...

On Friday, July 11, 2025, Brekyn Coleman and Hunter Spencer got married.  It was such a hot day!  They held their reception at the Palmer Barn in Willard.  The address was so confusing.  We had a difficult time finding it, but we made it.  Everything was pretty in pink. They served their favorite things for dessert, which were Lee's donuts, Sweet Nachos, and Zeppes.  It was a great time!

Book Club at Carmen's

Jamie and Skyler left in the morning.  Keith and I both took a 2 hr. nap and then I got up and started washing the bedding and blankets.  I cleaned all 4 bathrooms.  I ran a few errands and then I got ready for book club.

We met at Carmen Skidmore's home in Roy.  Carmen always goes all out.  She prepared quite the spread.  She had gifts for us too.  We had such a good time catching up.

Fourth of July 2025 and Reno Kids Visit

On July 3, 2025, Jamie, Dusty, and their family, including the dog, came to Utah.  Jamie, Chance, and the girls came to stay that evening.  Dusty and the boys came the next day around noon.

We visited with Jamie and the girls that evening and then went to bed.  We got up the next morning, and started preparing for the Fourth of July celebration.

While we were busy preparing the food for the evening, Kamryn kept Skyler busy outside doing chalk art.  So fun!  She drew the planets and solar system.  Once Kevin and LaRee arrived, we ate dinner.

In the middle of our dinner, the wind kicked up and we had a downpour that was out of this world.  It actually felt so good-like a mist on us.  Keith, LaRee, Kevin, and I stayed outside while everyone else ran inside for cover.

The rain stopped and we got ready for Zeppes for dessert.  Miles and Lexi were happy to help dish it up to everyone.

You would have through it was freezing - Dusty, Lexi, and Jamie went inside and put on warm clothes.  We died laughing when Dusty came out.  When Brady saw his dad, he said, "Check out Dusty.  He looks like he is ready for a wellness retreat."  So when Dusty came out, I said, "You look like you are going to a wellness retreat Dusty."  Everyone laughed.  It was pretty hilarious!

Kevin and LaRee headed home and we set up the chairs for the fireworks.  Every year we buy a bunch of fireworks to shoot off.

The next day we hung out at the house with Skyler.  The girls went shopping in SLC and the boys went golfing.  Then they came home and we made pizzas.  The boys also helped Grandpa with the waterfall and the benches.  They all went to visit Grandma Great at the Care Center, but forgot to take pictures.

We relaxed and watched movies.  On Sunday, the boys went golfing and to Smith and Edwards.  The girls sun bathed in the backyard.  Grandpa took Rebel and Skyler to the park to play.  I made peach ice cream for our dessert Sunday evening.  Jamie and Dusty went to a pool party at the Huggards for most of the afternoon and evening.  We had spaghetti.  Skyler helped me with the spaghetti and garlic bread.  She was excited to set the table for me.

We enjoyed peach ice cream.  Miles enjoyed it so much he had four helpings and then finished off the rest of the bowl.

Monday morning Skyler helped me make blueberry muffins and scrambled eggs for the family before they headed off to Lagoon.

The family spent the night at the Olson's in Bountiful since it was so late when they got home from Lagoon.  They had a blast.  Dusty, and the rest of the kids headed out for home.  They all have jobs, so they needed to get back.  Jamie and Skyler came up to the house and stayed with us until Thursday morning.  We visited the cemetery and Grandma Great again while Jamie got her hair done.

It was a good visit.  Keith and I are exhausted!

Reno Kids Halloween

Jamie sent pictures of Skyler's Halloween Costumes and her class.  It looks like they had several days of Halloween Fun!  Skyler's C...
