California Trip with Kamryn's Dance Team Day 1

On Friday, March 1, 2024, I flew into Long Beach California and met Jamie and Kamryn.  They invited me on Kamryn's Senior Trip to California with her dance team.  Their flight got in approximately two hours before mine.  They were kind enough to wait for me.  I was surprised when I got off the plane, and Kamryn and I saw each other.  We were twinning!

Twinning is Winning!  I was so surprised to see that we had the same leggings and black shirts!  Fun!

We caught an Uber and headed to the hotel.  It was too early for us to check-in, so we stored our luggage in the hotel office and then we walked over to the outdoor mall to Johnny Rockets to grab some lunch.  It was delicious.

We then walked back to our hotel and caught an uber to Huntington Beach.  It was a little chilly.  But hey, we were at the beach!  The sand felt so good on our feet.  We set out our towels and just relaxed.

There were surfing competitions at the beach.  It was fun to watch them.

I took pictures of the girls playing in the water.  They had so much fun!  Kamryn found a sand dollar.

Jamie and I walked up the beach to the farmer's market.  They had all kinds of artisans selling their goods.  It was fun to see their crafts.

We had a fun time.  The wind started getting strong and a storm was blowing in.  We called an uber and we headed back to the hotel.  We got our luggage, checked into our rooms, and then we cleaned up and headed to Downtown Disney for dinner and shopping.

We passed the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and I had to get a picture of the girls with Forrest Gump's tennis shoes.

We had a wonderful dinner.  We did some shopping and then headed back to the hotel.  The girls had a meeting with Ms. Robal at 9:00 p.m. to discuss plans for the competition the next day.  We got settled into our hotel room and just visited for a while.

Our motel was next to a parking garage.  Unfortunately, we discovered that around 11:00 p.m., there were drag races in the empty parking garage next to the motel.  The people laid on their car horns, played music super loud, there was screaming and craziness.  I thought we should call the police.  Jamie said that the police don't do anything about it because they are out checking on more important crimes than noise.  I was surprised that there wasn't a noise ordinance.

Needless to say, we got very little sleep that night.
